Michael C. White, MBA

President, Director of Operations

Like many students, Michael entered college with hopes of being successful, but with little guidance or direction on how to achieve his goals.  After obtaining an undergraduate degree and making a career change, Michael went back to school to obtain his MBA.  With a clear direction and passion to serve, he now desires to encourage youth in the areas of career planning, entrepreneurship and leadership. As a result, Michael founded High School Options as a way to impact the greater community. Michael is a Business Instructor and a Small Business Adviser for the Small Business Development Center and Chemeketa Community College that serves local entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Michael received his Bachelors of Science from Portland State University and his Master's of Business in Finance from George Fox University. He has over 10 years of experience volunteering for various organizations throughout Oregon, including the Children's Cancer Association, Providence Hospital, SMART, and Financial Beginnings to name a few. In 2013,  he received The President's Volunteer Service Award from the White House for volunteering over 200 hours in the community. With over 15 years of working experience, Michael has a background in product strategy, banking, pharmacy, retail management, fashion and new venture start-ups.

Janelle D. Nordyke, CPA, MBA

Board Director

Realizing how costly it is to get a higher education in this day and age, and knowing that not all people are cut out for college, Janelle is all for helping youth find their passion and choose their path early in life.

Janelle received her Bachelor of Science in Business/Economics and Masters of Business Administration in Finance from George Fox University.  Janelle also has her CPA certification.  Graduating from high school in Africa because of missions outreach, Janelle brings a third culture perspective to the group.

As a freshman in college and not knowing what she really wanted to major in, Janelle took a little of everything her first year.  Nothing clicked, so her father said, “take Business, you will never be sorry”.  After years of additional education and several jobs later, Janelle has finally found her area of passion:  helping people in the accounting arena.  Janelle volunteers her time helping with budgets for several non-profits affiliated with her church organization.

Janelle has held different accounting roles in non-profit, for profit, public accounting and government.

Chris M. Cain, M.A.T.

Board Director

As an elementary school teacher, Chris believes in the power of education. His academic pursuits led him to pursue a B.S. from the University of Oregon and an M.A.T. from Willamette University. Chris has seen the impact that higher education can have in shaping lives and helping people achieve dreams. As a peer advisor at the University of Oregon, Chris developed a passion for counseling students and helping them make informed decisions about their future.

As a Director with High School Options, Chris looks forward to renewing that passion and counseling with students. In the dynamic field of education, Chris looks forward to providing students with a valuable resource and guiding them in their journey to become an educator.

Melissa Circle, MBA

Board Director

Melissa’s goal is to help students better identify what drives them and how they can transform that into a career.  Melissa grew up with a passion for helping others and attended college with dreams of becoming a teacher because she knew the importance of education and the doors it can open for students.

Like many college students, during Melissa’s second year of undergraduate work, she realized that business had a stronger calling for her. She knew that through her connections in business that she could give back to the community and the future of our country in a different way.

Melissa graduated from Linfield College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and received her Master’s in Business Administration in 2016 from George Fox University.

Melissa has worked in many support roles for thriving companies. In these roles she received mentoring from the business people who helped mold her into the person she is today. She recently took a new position at her current company working as a Strategic Alliance Manager. She works with her company’s super channel partners, Board of Directors, and investors. Through this process she has gained a greater understanding of the different way people learn and communicate. She hopes to bring this knowledge and appreciation of business to students.
